That time my game night spreadsheet completely crashed mid-session
Last Saturday I had this big game night planned with 8 people and I used a spreadsheet to track scores and turns for a 6 hour session of Twilight Imperium. About 2 hours in, the spreadsheet froze and deleted all our data. I was so mad because I had all these formulas for trade routes and combat calculations. I spent like 20 minutes trying to fix it while everyone just sat there. Finally I grabbed a notebook and pen from my bag and we did it old school. The rest of the night actually went smoother without all the tech stuff. Has anyone else had a digital tool mess up a game night bad?

Only time I saw something like that was with a buddy who used a D&D app to track his campaign. It deleted all his custom monster stats halfway through a boss fight and he spent like 10 minutes trying to remember what the shadow demon's AC was. Notebooks never crash though so that's what he uses now.

Why not just stick with the pen and paper from the start? I get wanting to use tech but spreadsheets add a whole layer of failure points. For my group's Risk games we use index cards with big markers. Everybody sees the scores clear as day. No freezing, no corrupted data. Old school just works better for messy game nights.
