I finally stood up for my simple card game design at my local game night

I know a lot of board game geeks think that a game needs tons of rules and pieces to be worth playing, but I totally disagree. Last week, I brought my homemade card game to our group, and some folks dismissed it for being too light (which kinda hurt, honestly). My game just uses a deck of cards and some tokens, but it creates hilarious moments every time we play. For example, in one round, a simple bluffing mechanic led to everyone laughing so hard we almost cried. I get that heavy strategy games like Terraforming Mars are popular, but they're not the only way to have fun. Sometimes, a quick, easy game is exactly what you need to bring people together without the stress.

Defend your game, laughter matters more than rules.

While your game brings laughs, complex games provide a satisfying puzzle that keeps me hooked.

My cousin's kid loves those simple laugh-out-loud games. But give him a Rubik's cube and he'll be quiet for hours. Different strokes.
