Am I the only one who thinks board game nights got way less fun after everyone started using strategy apps?
A year ago, our group in Columbus just played for fun, with some friendly trash talk. Now, half the table is on their phones checking optimal moves for Catan or Terraforming Mars before every turn. The vibe totally changed from hanging out to a silent efficiency contest. It feels like we're not even playing against each other, just against some app's perfect playbook. Has anyone else had to ban phones to get the fun back?

Silent efficiency contest" sounds a bit dramatic, doesn't it?

Dramatic maybe, but I've seen it happen. My old office had two guys who would compete to see who could type the quietest keyboard. It got so tense you could hear a pin drop. They both bought these weird mushy rubber keypads. The boss finally told them to knock it off because the silence was creepier than the noise.
