A guy at my local game shop in Akron asked why I sleeve my cards, and his follow up stopped me cold
Ran into a regular at my game shop in Akron on Saturday, and we got to talking about our collections. He asked why I bother sleeving a $15 deck when I could just buy a new copy if it gets worn. I brushed it off at first, but then he brought up how his old playgroup all quit when one guy's rare cards got trashed during a game night spill. That was 4 years ago, and the group never recovered. It hit me that sleeves are not really about protecting cardboard. They are about keeping the people around the table. I had never thought about it that way, that a bent card can end a Tuesday night group. Now I am wondering if I should be doing more to keep my playgroup together. Has anyone here had a game night fall apart over something small like that?
