Unpopular opinion: I blew $70 on a cotton candy machine for our block party and it was a sticky mess
Bought one of those carnival style cotton candy makers for $70 at a party store in Fresno, thinking it would be the hit of our July 4th block party. The sugar flew everywhere, the kids got sticky hands on everything, and the machine jammed after about 20 minutes of use. Cleanup took me over an hour and I am still finding bits of pink sugar on my patio. Has anyone found a rental service that actually makes this worth it, or should I just stick to the snow cone table next time?
Did you run the machine on a level surface and let it heat up for a full 10 minutes before adding sugar? That jam at 20 minutes makes me wonder if you were overloading the spinner head or using the wrong kind of sugar. Also curious how many kids you had at once, because those things really only handle one cone at a time and a crowd makes people rush it. Fresno heat in July probably did not help either.
