Inflatable bounce house vs. water slide, I picked wrong and learned fast

We had our annual block party in Austin last month and I had to choose between renting a bounce house for $150 or a water slide for $200. I went with the slide because it was 95 degrees and figured the kids would love it. Turns out the street slopes just enough that the slide ended up lopsided, so every kid slid off to the left into a puddle of mud. The bounce house guy next door had a line around the block. Has anyone else had a rental fail because of a weird street grade?
