Watched a guy delete his Reddit app at a coffee shop and it clicked for me
I was sitting at a coffee shop in Portland last Friday, zoning out on my phone for like 20 minutes instead of working. This guy across from me just straight up deleted his Reddit app mid-scroll, told his friend "this app is why I haven't finished my project," and went back to his laptop. That simple moment made me realize I was doing the same thing every morning. I came home and moved all my social media apps to a folder on the third screen of my phone so they're not in my face. Has anyone else had a random stranger's move make you rethink your whole setup?

Is it bad that my first thought was "but where did he move the shortcut on his homescreen though"? I did the folder thing too but I just ended up muscle-memory clicking into it anyway. What actually worked for me was setting a stupidly short app timer and making my roommate set the password so I can't cheat.

Oh totally, the muscle memory is the WORST isn't it? I did the same thing with the folder trick, my thumb would just drift to where the app used to be. I ended up deleting the whole app for a week and forcing myself to use the browser version, which was so annoying it killed the habit.
