Update: Finally killed my doomscrolling habit this morning

I was sitting at my kitchen table yesterday morning, just scrolling through Twitter on my phone for like 20 minutes before I even realized what I was doing. My coffee was getting cold and I had a list of stuff to get done before work. So I grabbed a cheap kitchen safe I'd bought 3 months ago and finally set it up. I put my phone in there for 2 hours straight, went to clean the bathrooms and actually got them done in 25 minutes. It felt weird at first not having my phone nearby, but I finished my whole morning list by 9:30 AM. Has anyone else tried one of those timed lock boxes that actually helped? I'm curious if there's a better way to handle the urge to grab my phone at random times during the day.

It's wild how we normalize grabbing our phones without even thinking, like it's just part of breathing now. @kelly338's friend tapping out after 15 minutes says a lot about how deep that habit really goes. Breaking that automatic reach is the real win here, the lock box is just a tool to help you fight your own brain for a few minutes.

Oh man, my buddy tried something similar but she just left her phone in the car while she did chores. She said she kept walking outside to check it every 15 minutes anyway, so the lock box sounds way better. Did you get the kithen safe brand one or something different?
