The week I put a kitchen timer on my desk and it changed my whole morning
Two weeks ago I had the worst Monday I can remember. I sat down at 8am to answer one email and somehow it was 11:40 with 14 tabs open and nothing done. I felt awful. So that night I dug an old wind up kitchen timer out of a drawer and started setting it for 25 minutes before I touch anything. First block goes to just one task, and when the bell rings I get up and walk to the end of the driveway. By Thursday I got through a whole project that had been sitting there for six weeks. The weird part is I don't even need the timer to be fancy, the winding noise alone tells my brain it's go time. I'm wondering if anyone has a better trick for the after lunch slump, since the timer works fine in the morning but falls apart around 2pm for me.
