The library study room rule I never knew I needed

Last Tuesday I went to the downtown branch to finish a grant application and ended up sitting in their quiet room. Someone had taped a sign saying no laptops allowed, just notebooks and books. I figured that would ruin me since I type everything, but I brought paper anyway. Three hours later I had more done than I do in a full day at home with my phone and tabs open. Has anyone else tried a device-free spot like that, or is my brain just weird about screens?
