My coworker told me to stop using my phone during lunch breaks
Started a new job at a warehouse 3 months ago and I'd scroll through Instagram during my 30 minute break. One of the older guys pulled me aside and said I was wasting the only time I had to reset my brain. He showed me how he just sits and stares out the window for 10 minutes without any screens. I swapped my lunch break phone time for a 15 minute walk outside and it actually helps me focus way better in the afternoon. Has anyone else had someone call them out for phone habits at work and actually listened? I still use app timers on my phone for evenings but that lunch break change stuck.

What finally got me to listen was noticing how the guy who gave me the advice wasn't being a jerk about it, he just said it like he actually cared I was burning myself out. I tried his suggestion for a week straight and the difference in my afternoon energy was huge enough that it made me wonder why I was so glued to my screen in the first place. Now I just remind myself that sometimes the older guys have figured out stuff we haven't tried yet.
