Just realized the 5 minute rule beats my old timer app every time

I spent $4.99 a month on a fancy app blocker for months, but last Tuesday I switched to just setting a manual 5 minute timer before opening my phone. The trick is I commit to closing it when the timer goes off, no snooze. I read about this in a comment somewhere and thought it was dumb, but it actually works better because there's no app to argue with. Anyone else found that a basic kitchen timer outdoes the paid tools?

$4.99 a MONTH for an app that just tells you to stop? That's wild. I paid $30 once for a blocker that locked me out of my own settings, and a dollar store timer does the same job better. Basic always beats fancy when it comes to your own brain.
