Appreciation post: The day I put my router on a timer switch
I used to tell myself I'd just check one email after dinner and then two hours later I'd be deep in some random Wikipedia hole about 18th century shipbuilding. My wife kept giving me that look and I couldn't even argue because she was right. Last month I bought a basic $12 mechanical timer from the hardware store and set my internet router to shut off at 9 PM every night. The first night it happened I actually felt panic for about 5 minutes, like I'd lost a limb or something. But after three days something clicked, I started reading actual books again and finishing projects around the house. The weirdest part is my sleep schedule fixed itself without me trying, I'm in bed by 10 now instead of 1 AM. Has anyone else tried a hard cutoff like this instead of just app blockers?

Omgg I had a friend who tried the whole early bird thing once. She was passed out on her couch by 8 PM, woke up at 3 AM thinking it was morning, and ate a full bowl of cereal before realizing the sun wasn't up yet lol
