The floating shelf debate ended after my sister's plant disaster

I used to think floating shelves were overhyped, but every pic here shows the same mistake: everyone centers them too high, like 8 inches from the ceiling. My sister in Denver had hers drop a pothos pot last week, cracked the tile, because she eyeballed it without a stud finder. Anyone else rocking a lower shelf with brackets hidden behind art?
