That expensive gallery frame I bought was a total waste of money
I spent $85 on a fancy black frame from a place online to hang on my living room wall. Got it home and the glass had a weird reflection that made the whole wall look bad. Then I noticed the corners weren't even cut right, like a half inch gap on one side. Anyone else had luck with cheap frames from thrift stores or is that just asking for more trouble?

Can I ask what kind of frame it was exactly? Some of those online shops charge an arm and a leg for what's basically just plastic with a shiny coating. My own experience with cheap frames is that you get what you pay for, but honestly, I've picked up a few old wooden ones at garage sales for a couple bucks and they look fine. The trick for me is to just rotate them around until the light doesn't hit the glass at a weird angle. I've definitely spent too much on a frame before and felt like a fool when it looked worse than the dollar store one.

$30 frame from Target. I used to think paying more meant better quality but mason.mary is right. Garage sale finds always look more interesting anyway.
