My uncle said hang stuff at eye level, and my hallway stayed bare for 2 years because of it
Back in 2019 my uncle Ray helped me move into my first place in Cincinnati and he kept saying art should hang at eye level, about 57 inches to the center. So I waited and waited to find the perfect piece before putting a single nail in, and that hallway wall just sat empty the whole time. Then last month my neighbor Dana came over, looked at the bare wall, and said just hang a grid of cheap frames with photos from trips, screw the perfect height. I did it that weekend with 9 frames from the dollar store and it looks way better than one lonely overpriced print would have. Anyone else hold out for the "perfect" piece and end up with a bare wall for way too long?
Man, this is just how people are with everything, not just walls. My buddy waited three years to buy a couch because he wanted the "right" one, sat on folding chairs the whole time. My sister did the same thing with a tattoo idea, sketched it for two years and never booked it. I do it with cooking, saving recipes for a special night that never comes while the same five meals rotate every week. The perfect thing is the enemy of the done thing, and done is almost always better. Nine dollar store frames beat one empty wall every single time.
