My hallway gallery wall was crooked for 5 years and I never noticed

Last month I took a photo of my empty hallway wall for this group and when I looked at the pic on my phone I saw it clear as day. All three frames were tilted like a staircase going up to the right. I had hung them in 2019 with a tape measure and a level, but I only leveled each frame to the floor not to each other. The floor in my 1920s house in Columbus dips about an inch near the window, so every frame followed that dip. What tipped me off was my sister visiting and saying, "Is this supposed to look like a slide?" She laughed for a solid minute. I spent last Saturday redoing it with a laser level and a string line across all three frames, took about 2 hours total. Anyone else find out their walls were tricking them because of an unlevel floor?

Three inches of slope over ten feet sounds wild, but I bet half the houses in your neighborhood are worse since they settle into that clay soil. Once you see that first dip in a photo, it’s like your brain can’t unsee it in every room after that.
