My curtain rod died at 11pm and now the wall behind it looks terrible
So last Wednesday I was hanging a new curtain rod in my bedroom and the drywall anchor pulled right out of the stud I thought I had. The whole thing came crashing down, took a chunk of paint with it, and now there's a 3 inch hole staring at me from a wall I had no plans for. I spackled it but the patch looks obvious, so I'm thinking this is finally my excuse to hang something bigger there, maybe a big framed print or a mirror. Has anyone covered a bad patch job with a gallery wall and actually made it look intentional?
My buddy Dave did this exact thing two winters ago in his apartment on Maple Street. He had a hole about the size of a fist from a shelf that let go, and instead of fixing it right he picked up six cheap frames at a flea market and laid them out on the floor first. He traced the whole arrangement on paper, taped it to the wall, then hung everything so one frame sat right over the bad spot. Took him a whole Saturday but you honestly cannot tell where the hole was, and now it looks like he planned the wall that way on purpose. Just keep the frames close together and hang one right on top of the patch, that part matters more than people realize.
