I finally hung a big mirror in my living room after staring at a blank wall for 6 months
Walked past that EMPTY space every single day telling myself I'd find the perfect piece of art, then my neighbor gave me her old mirror for free and it actually opens up the whole room, totally changed how the light bounces around in there, has anyone else just given up on finding art and gone with a mirror instead?

adams.taylor makes a solid point about the reflection showing whatever mess is in there. Ive got a mirror in my hallway and it just doubles the sight of my shoes pile and the mail stack every time I walk past. Makes me feel like my clutter has multiplied somehow, even though it hasn't really changed. Kinda makes me want to keep that hallway cleaner just to have a break from staring at it all twice.

Mirrors are just a cop out honestly, you're basically saying "I give up trying to make my walls interesting" and now you just have to look at yourself every time you sit down. Blank walls give you room to breathe, a mirror just reflects back whatever mess is in your living room and makes it look twice as chaotic. Art actually tells a story or makes you feel something, a mirror just shows you the same old couch and that pile of mail you keep meaning to sort through. People say mirrors open up a space but really they just trick your brain into thinking the room is bigger, and then you have to keep it spotless or it ruins the whole effect.
