Gallery wall vs giant single piece: which actually works better?

Bought a set of 12 frames for my living room wall and spent a whole Saturday arranging them. My neighbor just hung a 4-foot canvas and called it done. Which approach holds up better in real life, not just Pinterest boards?

Honestly, I've been noticing this same thing everywhere lately, not just with wall art. People either overcomplicate things or just go with something bold and simple. Like my buddy spent two weeks picking out throw pillows and arranging them on his couch, but my other friend just threw a big patterned blanket over his and it looks way better. I think the single piece wins most of the time because it's less to fuss with and you can change it out whenever. Gallery walls feel like a project you have to maintain, not something you just live with.
