Drove past the old grocery store where I grew up and noticed the empty wall where the town mural used to be

It was just a big blank brick face now with a faint outline of where the paint had been and it made me wonder if anyone else has seen a cool wall that lost its art over time.

oh man, I actually read something just last week about how those ghost signs are becoming a thing of the past because of all the new building codes and stuff. there was this article that said a lot of them are getting painted over or covered up by new construction, which is a real shame because they're like little bits of history just hanging there on the walls. I remember seeing one for an old soda company when I was driving through a small town, and I couldn't help but wonder what that place was like back in the day when the sign was fresh and new. it's crazy how fast things change, and how those faded letters are basically the only reminder of something that used to be a big deal.
