Warning about cheap tong blanks from that online auction site

Tbh, I spent about $60 on a set of four tong blanks thinking I'd save time. The steel was so inconsistent it cracked during the first heat while I was drawing out the reins. Has anyone found a decent supplier for basic tong kits that won't fail?

Maybe try a local steel yard's scrap bin instead.

I used to buy new metal for every project. The scrap bin at Miller Steel changed my mind. I found perfect pieces for half the cost.
