Serious question, had a customer tell me my hammer handles were too short

I was at a craft fair in Austin last month and this old timer picked up one of my hammers and said 'son, your handles are two inches too short for real work'. I thought I knew what I was doing but after trying his length for a week my swing feels way more natural. Anyone else get feedback that made them totally rethink their tool design?

I mean are we really acting like two inches is gonna make or break your whole tool business? Seems like a lot of fuss over a personal preference.

Oh so we're pretending that extra two inches doesn't have some folks out there measuring twice and cutting once if you know what I mean? Look I've been around enough workshops to know that sometimes it's not about the size it's about how you use it but let's be real nobody's bragging about their 3-inch finish nailer either. Your mileage may vary but I've seen guys get real territorial over their tool specs like it's a competition in the locker room after a game.
