Just realized my anvil work height has been wrong for 12 years

I've been using the same anvil stand since I started blacksmithing back in 2012. Last week I measured my knuckle height properly and found my anvil is 3 inches too low for my swing. Old school smiths say your knuckles should just graze the face when you stand relaxed, but I've been hunching over this whole time. Now I'm wondering if I should build a new stand or just add a steel plate on top. Has anyone else dealt with changing their anvil height after years of working at the wrong one?

Read somewhere that knuckle height rule came from the old Sheffield smiths. Sounds like you've been fighting your own body for years.

Bet you were wondering why your back sounded like a bag of popcorn every time you swung a hammer.
