Finally got my first clean forge weld after 8 tries last night

Used to just hammer and hope, but after watching an old timer show me how to watch the flux bubble, it clicked. Anyone else have a trick that made forge welding suddenly make sense?

8 tries? Man just get a gas forge, makes it way easier.

Watching the flux bubble" huh? I always just listen for the change in sound when it's ready.
