Coal vs propane, I sold my propane forge after 2 years

Everyone in my shop swore by propane for control, but I went back to coal because the fire tells you things no gauge can, and after 40 hours of using both I can hit welding heat blindfolded, has anyone else ditched the modern setup for the old way?

Damn, blindfolded on your first try after only 40 hours? That's wild, I burned my eyebrows off just switching to coal.
