Was the only one who didn't get the hype around Dark... until episode 6 hooked me hard

I kept seeing people rave about Dark on here and tried watching it twice last year. Both times I fell asleep by the second episode. Felt like a chore. But my friend kept pushing me so I forced myself to episode 6 last week. That's when the timeline stuff clicked and I couldn't stop. Finished all three seasons in 8 days. Still think the first few episodes drag too much though. Anyone else struggle to get into a show and then suddenly it clicks way later?

Oh man, I keep hearing this about Dark and I just don't get the hype at all. I made it through three episodes and I was so bored I almost started scrubbing baseboards instead. Is the show really that deep or do people just say it is because it's in German and looks fancy? I feel like every "mind bending" show gets this treatment where you have to suffer through hours of boring stuff before it "clicks." Like no thanks, I have a two episode max rule for anything that's supposed to be good. If I have to wait until episode six to care, that's six episodes of my life I can't get back.
