Vent: my buddy's subtle spoiler ruined a 6 season arc for me

We were watching together in Portland last Saturday, and he casually mentioned how a character from season 2 shows up again later. That one sentence gave away the entire mystery I was piecing together over 60 episodes. I get that he didn't mean harm, but now every twist feels predictable and I've lost the urge to finish the finale. He tried to fix it by saying it was just a cameo, but the damage was done. Has anyone else had a friend drop a tiny detail that wrecked a whole series for them?
