Vent: I almost skipped this show for being too boring, but it's now my favorite
I tried watching 'The Crown' and found the first few episodes dull. I thought it was just history stuff I didn't care about. Then I saw the episode about the Aberfan disaster and it hit me hard. The way they show the queen's struggle makes the politics personal. I ended up binging the whole series in a week. Don't judge a show by its slow start, or you might pass on something special.

Mad Men never got better for me.

I kept waiting for that show to click with me too. Every season I figured the next one would finally grab me. It just never made me care enough to keep up. Maybe my taste is just bad though, I'm the guy who rewatches comfort sitcoms instead.

The Aberfan episode was the exact moment The Crown clicked for me too. It stopped being about fancy costumes and became about real people making impossible choices. That shift from big history to personal cost is what makes a slow show worth it. But I get why it doesn't work for everyone. Some shows just ask for more patience than people have time or energy to give. What feels deep to one person just feels like homework to another.
