Tried watching a show on 1.5x speed and it actually works for slow dramas

I always thought faster playback would ruin the vibe, but after struggling through 4 episodes of a slow-burn mystery, I gave it a shot and finished the whole season in one sitting. Has anyone else found a show that actually benefits from speeding up?

My friend tried watching The Crown at 1.5x speed and said it sounded like the royal family was being chased by bees. Actually though, I discovered this trick with Ozark - that show drags so bad in the middle seasons that bumping it up made it feel like a normal paced thriller instead of a wet towel. Just be careful you don't accidentally watch a romance movie like that or everyone will sound like they're having a panic attack while confessing their love.

Isn't it wild how a little speed boost can totally change the pacing of a show? You mentioning Ozark is such a good example, that show has those long stretches where nothing really happens and speeding it up makes it a whole different experience. I think the trick is finding shows where the plot matters more than the atmosphere or the acting, like a slow thriller or a mystery where you just want the clues. But yeah, you're totally right about romance movies, I tried it on a Nicholas Sparks thing and everyone sounded like they were hyperventilating. It's kind of a cheat code for shows that are good but just need a kick in the pants to get moving.
