The 2x speed trick on Netflix got me through 3 seasons of a slow show in one weekend

I started watching The Expanse and nearly quit after the first 4 episodes dragged on forever. Cranked it to 2x speed for the setup scenes and finally enjoyed it - what shows have you saved with a speed hack like this?

I see you mention "cranked it to 2x speed for the setup scenes" and I get where you're coming from but I actually think this ruins a lot of shows. The Expanse is a perfect example because those slow scenes have little details and world building that matter later, like the detective's mood or the politics on Earth. Watching at 2x speed makes it harder to catch those small moments that pay off in season 2 and 3. Maybe some shows like reality tv or comedies work fast but for scifi and drama I feel like you miss the soul of the show. Have you ever tried sticking with normal speed for a whole show and it changed your mind about it?

I watched The Expanse at normal speed and it paid off for me too. @oliver811 the slow parts in that show actually set up things that matter later, like the protomolecule experiments or what Avasarala is doing behind the scenes. Rushing through them just makes the big moments feel less earned.
