My roommate said my background music ruined every plot twist
I used to always have a Spotify playlist on while watching shows. My roommate finally snapped and said 'every emotional scene gets killed because you've got upbeat indie pop behind it.' I turned it off for one episode of The Americans and realized I missed half the tension before. Now I only use music on comedies or rewatches. Has anyone else had someone call out a habit that was ruining your viewing experience?

Yeah I read somewhere that music actually changes how your brain processes emotional scenes.
