My Netflix algorithm kept suggesting Korean dramas and I finally gave in

For the longest time, I thought K-dramas were just cheesy romances. But after a boring weekend, I clicked on 'Crash Landing on You' and ended up watching it all in two days, lol. The mix of humor, drama, and cultural insights was amazing. Now I'm diving into more like 'Kingdom' and 'Itaewon Class.' I never expected to enjoy subtitles so much, but it's worth it for the storytelling. Did anyone else discover a whole new genre by accident?

omg same thing happened to me! What was the biggest surprise for you, like was it the way the stories are told or something else that made you totally change your mind about them? I went from zero to totally hooked and it messed up my whole watchlist.

Nah, for me it was the opposite. I went in expecting to be blown away but found the stories told in such a boring way. Like that episode where they dragged out a simple plot for ages, it just felt lazy. The characters were all one note and I saw every twist coming from a mile away. It didn't change my mind at all, just made me drop them from my list. Honestly, I don't get the hype.
