My husband and I went from zero to obsessed with 'Shogun' in a single weekend

We started the first episode on Friday night, a bit unsure about the subtitles. By Sunday afternoon we'd finished all ten episodes, and I was looking up the real history of the Tokugawa shogunate online. The characters are so well done that you get completely pulled into their world. Has anyone else had a show grab them that fast?

It completely takes over your brain, doesn't it? We had the same thing happen, and now I'm reading the book because the show just wasn't enough. The way they built that world makes everything else on TV feel a bit dull for a while.

Takes over your brain" is a bit much for me. I watched the first two episodes and found it pretty but slow. The subtitles felt like work after a long day. I guess I just don't get the huge hype. It was fine, but I didn't feel pulled into another world at all.
