Had my DVR crash right before the finale of that new crime doc I was binging

I was three episodes deep into the last season of The Staircase Files when my hard drive gave out on Sunday night and now I have to wait a week for IT to recover the files, has anyone else lost progress on a show mid-binge and just given up on it?

Honestly, I think the real tragedy here isn't just losing a show but losing the momentum and the vibe you built up in your head. You know how you get that specific feeling right before a finale, all those theories and little clues you noticed? That's gone too. The hard drive crash wipes out your mental investment almost as much as the episodes themselves. For me, that feeling is impossible to get back once it's broken. Ngl, sometimes it's better to just read a recap and move on rather than try to rebuild that whole mood from scratch.

That thing you said about losing the vibe you built up in your head, that hit me. I used to think, nah, you can always rewatch something, the episodes are still out there somewhere. But you're right, it's not the same. I remember before the last season of Breaking Bad I had this whole notebook full of theories and connections I thought I saw. When I finally sat down to watch the finale I had that buzz, that specific feeling you're talking about. If I'd lost my notebook and had to start over from scratch, I don't think I could have ever got that same excitement back. You changed my mind on this one for sure.
