Dropped $60 on that fancy streaming add-on and got NOTHING but buffering
I paid for the premium 4K tier on Paramount Plus to watch the new season of Star Trek and it kept freezing every 10 minutes. Has anyone else had a subscription totally let them down like that?

Hold up a second. You mentioned Paramount Plus, but Paramount Plus doesn't actually have a "premium 4K tier" on its own. Their top plan is $11.99 with Showtime, and 4K is included in that, not a separate add-on. You might have bought something from Amazon Channels instead, which is a different thing where you add Paramount Plus to Prime Video. In my experience, watching 4K on a streaming add-on through Amazon can be way worse than using the Paramount Plus app directly. Take this with a grain of salt, but your money might have gone to the middleman, not the source.
