Dismissed Friday Night Lights for 8 years, then watched the whole thing in 11 days
I remember rolling my eyes at the DVD box every time I walked past it at a friend's place back in 2016. Just figured it was another teen drama about football, and I never cared about football. Then my wife got the flu in January and put it on while she was stuck on the couch, and by episode 3 I was the one refusing to go to bed. Something about how the show handles small town life in Texas got me, the way everyone knows each other's business and nobody really escapes it. We finished all 5 seasons in 11 days, which is the fastest we have ever gone through anything. The thing that got me was how the later seasons still worked even after some of the main characters left, which almost never happens. I still think about the episode where Coach Taylor takes the job in East Dillon and basically starts over with nothing. So my mind changed hard on that one. What show did you swear off for years before finally giving in and loving it?
