Saw a guy in full business suit biking through a flooded underpass last week

It was after that huge storm on Tuesday, the bike lane under the railroad bridge near 5th street was totally underwater. I stopped to turn around and this dude in a full suit, tie flapping, just pedals straight through it. Water came up to his waist, he didnt even slow down. Just kept going like it was nothing. I gotta respect the commitment but also, like, why not take the side street? Is there some unspoken bike lane rule about never deviating from your route?

look i get that it seems wild but honestly who cares? dude didnt hurt anyone and made it where he was going. yeah its dumb to bike through water like that but a lot of people do dumb stuff every day and we dont write essays about it. maybe he was late for a meeting or just didnt feel like turning around. i bet if you were running late in a suit you would do the same thing. let the man live his life.

You know what, you actually make a good point. I was all ready to roll my eyes at the guy but now I'm sitting here thinking yeah, I've done some dumb stuff when I was running late and wet socks beat being fired any day.
