Hit 1,000 miles on the bike lane commute and my legs finally stopped hating me
I logged my 1,000th mile on the protected lane down 8th Street this morning, and I honestly did not think I would get here. When I started riding to work back in April, I was dying after 3 miles and walking my bike up the last hill. Now I do the 6 mile round trip without thinking about it, and I even passed a guy on an e-bike yesterday who looked mildly annoyed about it. The lane itself is still half full of leaves and one spot where a parked van always blocks the view, but I know every crack now. My chain has been squeaking for a bit so I guess that is my reward to myself, a $15 bottle of lube and a Saturday morning. What's the mile marker where the commute stopped feeling like a workout and started feeling like just getting to work?
