Found a shortcut through the alley behind Main Street and it cut my commute by 10 minutes

I got tired of waiting at the light on 5th and Oak every morning. Last Tuesday I tried cutting through the alley behind the old post office and it connects right to the river path. Now I save about 10 minutes each way. Has anyone else found a hidden route like this in your city?

Watch out for that pothole about halfway through the alley though, I hit it on my first try and thought I blew a tire. Also check your GPS first because some of those alleys connect to dead ends or private lots. I found a shortcut near the old warehouse district that saved me a TON of time but it took me three tries to memorize the turns.

Driving through alleys is a TERRIBLE idea most of the time - you're risking paint scratches from narrow walls and you can't see intersection traffic. GPS is unreliable for those tiny back routes anyway, and memorizing turns is just asking for confusion when the warehouse district changes its layout. Better to just stick to main roads even if it takes a couple extra minutes, because one blown tire or dead end makes the whole shortcut pointless.
