My coworker swore by using a neck gaiter soaked in cold water for summer commutes, and I finally tried it after a 90 degree ride left me pouring sweat onto my desk last Thursday.
I figured it would just drip everywhere and make me look like a drowned rat, but the evaporative cooling actually kept me dry for the whole 4 mile trip and I walked into my office in downtown Austin without a single pit stain has anyone else found a weird clothing hack that actually works better than the expensive stuff?

Hold up, I gotta say I disagree here. Tried the wet neck gaiter thing last summer on my way to work and it just turned into a soggy mess after about 10 minutes, dripping cold water down my chest and making my shirt all wet. Maybe it works if you're in dry heat, but here in Houston humidity it feels like you're wrapping a wet towel around your neck and it just steams you more. Give me a cheap cotton bandana I can swap out for a dry one halfway through my ride any day over a gaiter that stays damp and gross.

Nah, I actually see it the other way, @abby_singh. In dry heat out here in Arizona, a wet gaiter is a lifesaver for hours on end, but I bet Houston humidity just turns it into a swamp. I'd take the soggy mess over a bandana that dries out in 10 minutes flat though, your mileage may vary.
