I stopped wearing my nice work shirts on my 5 mile commute and started hanging them in the office closet instead

For about two years I would just bike in my work clothes. Figured I was going slow enough to not sweat much. But I live in Austin and by July it was bad. I'd get to the office with damp armpits and spend the first 30 minutes hoping nobody noticed. Last spring I bought a cheap garment bag from Target for $12 and started leaving a week's worth of shirts at work on Monday mornings. I change in the restroom when I arrive. No more sweat stains, no more stress about my backpack rubbing fabric weird. Has anyone else found a better way to handle this for longer rides?

Hate to say it but you're overcomplicating a 5 mile ride.

Man, tell me about it. I watched my neighbor spend an hour strapping his bike to the roof of his Prius for a 3 mile trip to the grocery store. Had the torque wrench out and everything. By the time he was done I could have walked there and back twice. Sometimes people just gotta feel like they're doing something important I guess.
