I compared two rain jackets for 3 weeks and one kept me dry for $45 less

My old jacket soaked through after 20 minutes, but the cheap poncho with arm holes got me to work dry every day, including that 30 mile per hour downpour Tuesday, so why are we all paying for fancy breathable membranes when a $12 poncho does the job?

Tested this exact thing during a crazy rain week last spring. Poncho kept me bone dry, jacket let me down by mile two and left me squishing around all day. I just learned to carry a spare poncho in my bag for when the "real" gear fails.
