Had a pigeon kamikaze into my bike basket at 7am this morning

I was cruising down Oak Street near the donut shop, smooth commute going, when this pigeon just drops out of nowhere and lands right in my front basket. It sat there looking confused for a solid 5 blocks before it flew off. I was so startled I almost hit a curb. Anyone else get attacked by wildlife on their morning ride?

Four blocks down Main, I had a squirrel literally launch itself off a low hanging branch and land right on my handlebar bag. Scared the daylights out of me, swerved into a pile of wet leaves, and nearly ate a mailbox for breakfast. Pigeons I get, but squirrels must have some kind of vendetta against cyclists. Did you get any weird looks from people while you were dealing with your basket buddy?

Right, because getting dive-bombed by a pigeon at 7am is exactly the wake-up call I needed. My bike basket was clearly marked as 'pigeon daycare, open for business'. I bet that squirrel was just trying to one-up the pigeon and claim the 'Most Annoying Road Hazard' award. You gotta hand it to them, they really know how to ruin a perfectly good cup of coffee commute.
