Changed my mind about wearing a rain jacket after getting drenched at 7th and Pine

I was biking to work last Tuesday through Pioneer Square when a sudden downpour hit, and my supposedly waterproof bag let my laptop get soaked through. Spent half the morning drying stuff out with paper towels and a space heater. Anyone else given up on trusting bag covers and just switched to a proper jacket?

Rocking a hoodie under a raincoat is basically my daily uniform from October to June. I've had too many mornings where it's dumpimg rain at 7 AM but sunny by noon, so you learn real quick not to trust the forecast. One time I wore just a heavy jacket and ended up sweating through a bus ride because the sun came out and turned the whole city into a greenhouse. Layers or you're playing roulette with your comfort, simple as that.
