Vent: Customer demanded a 1x drivetrain swap, then blamed me for their knees

Three months ago a guy in Denver walks in with a 2018 Trek and insists on ditching the 2x for a 1x setup, even after I warned him about the climbing range on his local hills. I did the swap in two hours, charged him $220, and now he's back saying his knees hurt and the bike 'feels wrong.' How do you convince people that gearing math beats whatever they saw on a YouTube video?
