Just realized I've been torquing carbon handlebars wrong for 6 years
I was at a group ride in Boulder last Saturday when a mechanic watching me tighten my stem pointed out the torque specs on the bar are for the bolts, not the clamp area, and now I'm worried about all the cracked bars I might have caused - has anyone else mixed those numbers up?

Nobody talks about how torque wrenches drift out of spec too. I checked mine against a buddy's Park Tool one at the shop and it was off by almost a full newton meter after a couple seasons of tossing it in the truck bed. If your tool is trash, even the right number won't save your bars. When was the last time you actually had yours calibrated?

@brooke_walker23 Ive never calibrated mine and my bolts stay tight. Stop overthinking it.
