Just realized I was wrong about tubeless tires on old rims

Spent two years swearing tubeless wouldn't hold on my 2008 Mavic wheels, but after a buddy set them up with a different valve stem and some gorilla tape, they've been solid for 4 months and I finally ate my words last week - anyone else had a setup come back to bite you like that?

Honestly, that Gorilla tape trick is a game changer, but you gotta be careful with how much you use. Ive seen people lay it on too thick and then the bead won't seat right. Also, the valve stem matters way more than most folks think, some of those cheap ones just don't have the right seal. Glad it worked out for you though, it's wild how a little bit of gear change can flip your whole opinion on a setup.

Respectfully, @perez.mia, I gotta disagree a bit on the valve stem thing. I've run some real cheap ones for years without a single leak, it's more about the tape job than the stem. Ngl, the bead seating issue is real though, too much tape kills the whole setup.
