I stopped using wet lube on my commuter after a stupid crash

I used to swear by wet lube for my town bike, figured it lasted longer through rain and slush. But after wiping out on a wet manhole cover last November, I realized my chain was just flinging gunk all over my rear tire and brake track. Switched to a dry wax lube a few months back, and even though I reapply more often, my drivetrain stays clean and I haven't had that slippery feel again. Anyone else dump wet lube for a drier alternative on their daily rider?

Dry wax lube is the way to go for a commuter, man. I made the same swap last year and my brake pads stopped getting that greasy film, plus the chain actually stays quiet longer between cleans.

Hell yeah, I went through the same thing! Wet lube is just a magnet for road grime, I swear it turns your whole drivetrain into this nasty black paste after a week. I switched to a wax based lube a couple months ago and it's night and day. My pants don't get that greasy stripe on the ankle anymore and I'm not wiping chain gunge off my rim every time I clean the bike. Plus reapplying every few hundred miles is way less annoying than scrubbing that wet lube goo off everything.
