I finally stopped greasing every bolt after a seized seatpost in Phoenix
Tbh, for 6 years I greased every thread like it was gospel, then a client's seatpost welded itself into a frame we'd assembled with grease on the post. A retired frame builder in Tucson told me to check the manufacturer specs, and now I keep anti-seize on hand and only grease what the manual says. Anyone else have a seized part that made you flip your whole lube routine?

You ever see a guy snap a bolt off flush with the frame and just stare at the sky for a solid minute? My buddy did that on his old touring bike, the one he'd babied for years. He always slathered every single thread with thick grease, thought he was doing it right. Turns out the manufacturer spec for that particular bottom bracket shell wanted a specific torque and dry threads, not a grease bath. He torqued it to what he thought was right, but the grease let it over-tighten and it seized up something fierce. Had to drill the damn thing out and he never touched a grease gun the same way again. Now he reads the manual like it's a sacred text before he even picks up a wrench.
